"Today's engineers and their work are very diverse," said National Academy of Engineering President Wm. A. Wulf." At the same time, many of our most significant recent advances involve contributions from more than one field. Frontiers of Engineering exposes engineers to ideas outside of their specialties to spark new insights and collaborations." There¿s no doubt that Brian deserves this honor and fits this description. He is both a MITRE CAASD software engineer and a Georgetown University assistant professor. Brian started working at MITRE in 1999 when he was finishing up his Ph.D. Soon he began teaching a software engineering course at Georgetown, where he was asked to become an assistant professor of computer science. With a flexible work schedule, he manages both jobs providing benefits to both organizations.
Brian¿s project helped establish a pipeline between academia and the professional world of CAASD. He involved several of his students in the project and they are now MITRE employees. In fact, he¿s had 6 students from 2001 until now who worked in his research group and have started working at MITRE.
CAASD congratulates Brian on his recent honor and looks forward to seeing more of his students!
