MITRE/CAASD Receives NAV CANADA's "Award of Excellence"

NAV CANADA recognized MITRE/CAASD for its "outstanding support to our operations and our Air Traffic Management System." MITRE/CAASD officials were in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada, to receive NAV CANADA's "Award of Excellence" on November 16, 2000.

In accepting the award, Dr. Robert Ravera, MITRE/CAASD¿s then vice president of operations, said, "We are honored that MITRE/CAASD's NAV CANADA team has been singled out for this award. From the beginning, a partnership has been forged between NAV CANADA and MITRE/CAASD that we feel has been of enormous mutual benefit. The professionalism and 'Can-do' attitude of our colleagues at NAV CANADA, and the trust that has developed between us at all levels of our organizations, means that our work has had an impact on NAV CANADA's successes."

William Fenton, NAV CANADA's chief financial officer, recognized MITRE/CAASD for its "excellent work in support of NAV CANADA's Converging Runway Display Aid (CRDA) program." Developed at MITRE/CAASD, the CRDA program improves airport operational performance and reduces arrival and departure delays at airports where it has been implemented (places like St. Louis and Philadelphia).

The citation on the team award reads

For exemplary performance and professional excellence in support of NAV CANADA, CAASD's valued customer, the team was responsive to customer needs in providing air navigation and management services. This work was directly responsible for enhancing CAASD capabilities in support of international business objectives.

"We can all take pride in accomplishments such as those for NAV CANADA," said MITRE/CAASD General Manager Amr ElSawy. "As our value to our customers grows, it is our people--like those on the NAV CANADA Team--who make it all possible. They, and so many others, are building our external reputation and image by supplying the quality results that delight our customers."
